Tourism Promotion in Thailand

‘Selling Premium’ – Thailand wants the valuable Tourists and Discourages Discounts
The Kingdom of Thailand’s Businesses, Hotels and Private Hospitals should not offer big discounts to enthusiastic tourists and focus on increasing the country’s value as a Premium Tourist Destination, Government Ministers said on July 4, 2022.
In the first six months of this year 2022, Thailand received about 2 million foreign visitors, a stable improvement after its Tourism Industry almost collapsed due to the Pandemic and more than a year and six months of complicated and costly Entry Regulations.
The Thai Government cannot let people come to Thailand by saying It is Cheap,” Thai Deputy Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said at a Tourism Promotion event at Bangkok International Airport.
Echoing Comments made by Thailand’s Tourism Minister, he went on to say that instead, “Because it Works, it’s Reasonable.”
Anutin compared the approach to luxury fashion brand Louis Vuitton. “Hold back and Sell Premium. He said, more expensive, more customers, and the Louis Vuitton would not make any Sales.”
One of Asia’s most popular Tourist Destinations, Thailand Welcomed a record 40 million Visitors in the year before the 2019 pandemic, spending 1.91 trillion baht “US$53.53 billion,” equivalent to 11 percent of gross domestic product.
Arrivals slumped to 6.7 million the following year and 428,000 in 2021, despite measures to lift Quarantine Regulations.
Earlier this year, Thailand launched a Long-Term Visa Programme for Wealthy Foreigners and Skilled Workers to continue attracting high-spending Visitors despite Significant Job and Business Losses in Tourism during the Pandemic. It is expected that 10 million Foreign Visitors will arrive in the country by 2022.
