Air Canada Resumes Seasonal Flights to Bangkok, Thailand
Air Canada, Headquartered in the Saint-Laurent district of Montreal, Quebec, is Canada’s largest airline by fleet size and passengers carried and Canada’s national airline, established by the Canadian federal government in 1936. Air Canada maintains its headquarters, established in 1937, and provides scheduled and charter air service for passengers and cargo to 222 destinations worldwide. Air Canada’s major hubs are located in Montréal, YUL (Trudeau International Airport), YYZ (Toronto Pearson International Airport), YYC (Calgary International Airport) and YVR (Vancouver International Airport). The regional service of the airline is call as Air Canada Express. Air Canada operates a fleet of Airbus A330, Boeing 777 and Boeing 787 Dreamliner wide-body aircraft on long-haul routes and uses Airbus A320 family aircraft (including A320 and A321 variants), Boeing 737 MAX 8 and Airbus A220-300 aircraft on short-haul routes. Its Air Canada Vacations subsidiary, along with regional partners, offers vacation packages to more than 90 destinations, and the airline operates an average of more than 1,613 scheduled flights daily.
Air Canada recently announced the expansion of its international network with Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), Bangkok, Thailand, the airline’s first nonstop service to Southeast Asia. Air Canada will also launch flights to Mumbai, India, the second destination in the strategic India market. The airline’s seasonal service to Bangkok will operate from its trans-Pacific hub at Vancouver International Airport, while the airline’s Mumbai flights will operate from Toronto via London Heathrow; both routes are subject to government approval.
Air Canada will launch its first nonstop service to Southeast Asia next winter, the only one between North America and Thailand. Thailand is a very popular and beautiful vacation destination for Canadians, so the new service offers very interesting opportunities for earning and redeeming points. Flights to Bangkok will be even more convenient with seamless connectivity to the extensive domestic and cross-border route network, offering customers greater choice in their travels, Air Canada’s SVP added.
The Indian market remains very important to Air Canada, and so Air Canada is also eager to resume currently paused non-stop flights on the Toronto-Mumbai and Vancouver-Delhi routes as soon as circumstances permit, and looks forward to returning to India, with Mumbai as its largest city, a major commercial and entertainment hub, complementing the 13 weekly flights from Canada to Delhi. Flights to Mumbai will be operated with a stopover at London Heathrow, connecting to more than a dozen flights operated by Air Canada and Star Alliance partner United Airlines between North America and London, as well as an additional option to travel between the U.K. and India.
The scheduled flights between Vancouver, Canada, and Bangkok, Thailand, and between Toronto, Canada, and Mumbai, India, via London Heathrow will be operated on Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, offering passengers a choice of three cabins, including lie-apartment seats in Signature Class, Premium and Economy Class. The seats are available on the aircanada.com website, aircanada.com/Aeroplan, through the Air Canada App, Air Canada Contact Centers and at travel agencies.
Air Canada is strengthening its international winter service to the South Pacific region with the resumption of seasonal flights from Vancouver to Auckland, New Zealand, Sydney and Brisbane, Australia. Air Canada will resume international service to South America with the resumption of routes from Montreal and Toronto to Lima, Peru, on a seasonal basis.
Air Canada continues to pursue a strategy of growing its global route network in line with customer demand and is expected to serve approximately 81 percent of Air Canada’s 2019 international capacity this winter. Air Canada looks forward to welcoming valued customers on board, Galardo said.
