Thailand’s Centre for COVID -19 Situation Administration (CCSA) has approved the elimination of RT-PCR testing requirements for international travelers beginning May 1, 2022. Now there will be no more testing programs and two new entry regulations for travelers entering the Kingdom, ‘vaccinated’ or ‘unvaccinated’. This important milestone means that from May 1, 2022, there will be no more pre-travel or arrival testing for fully vaccinated travelers. All travelers, regardless of vaccination status, must register on the Thailand Pass website. The government will begin accepting applications for the new entry requirements on April 29, 2022. The latest relaxation of entry restrictions aims to make international travel more convenient and hassle free and also has been welcomed by businesses and visitors as well all other stakeholders etc. There are some very important travels document requirements which should be keep in mind before traveling to Thailand.
a- Thailand Pass registration
b- Insurance with a minimum coverage of $10,000
c- Covid-19 vaccination or covid-19 certificate
d- Thai visa (if required)
1- NEW ENTRY RULES FOR VACCINATED TRAVELERS:
International travelers who are fully vaccinated are no longer required to provide proof of a negative RT-PCR test prior to entry, nor are they required to submit to an arrival test. However, they must still register for a Thailand pass through the website: https://tp.consular.go.th/ and provide a vaccination certificate COVID -19 and insurance with coverage of at least US$10,000 (previously US$20,000). Upon arrival in Thailand, travelers will be allowed entry and free movement anywhere in the Kingdom.
2- NEW ENTRY RULES FOR UN-VACCINATED TRAVELERS:
International travelers who are not vaccinated or not fully vaccinated will also no longer be required to prove a negative RT-PCR test prior to entry or undergo an entry test.
They must apply for a Thailand Passport with a 5-day hotel reservation and an insurance policy with coverage of at least US$10,000 (reduced from US$20,000). Upon arrival in Thailand, travelers must undergo 5 days of quarantine and take a RT-PCR test on the 5th day. There are some airlines that will not carry unvaccinated travelers at this time – check with your airline before confirming and paying for tickets.
An exception is made for unvaccinated travelers who can upload proof of a negative RT-PCR test through the Thailand Passport system within 72 hours prior to travel. These travelers – as well as fully vaccinated travelers – are granted entry clearance and are free to travel anywhere in the Kingdom.
3- THAILAND PASS
The Thailand Pass will also be retained, but the only documents you will need to upload for registration before entering Thailand are your passport details, vaccination information and proof of insurance coverage. You will still need to wait for your Thailand passport to be approved before you can enter Thailand. The wait time is currently usually 1 – 3 days, but can be longer. Mandatory ‘Covid’ insurance will be reduced from US$20,000 to US$10,000. As in the past, Thais and foreigners insured under the general Thai healthcare system will not be required to purchase additional ‘Covid’ insurance. Some foreign policies that specifically cover Covid treatment and hospitalization are accepted. Otherwise, Thailand-based insurance policies are available.
NOTE: The Public Health Authority of Thailand (CCSA) advises foreigners to self-monitor their health when traveling in Thailand and recommends but is not required to take an ATK test. In addition, both vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers are advised to strictly follow health and safety standards. Travelers who experience COVID -like symptoms should get tested. If the test is positive, they must seek appropriate medical treatment.

THAILAND TOURISM
Thailand is a leader for tourism in Southeast Asia in the shape of huge numbers of foreign tourists’ arrivals and is a world-famous destination, long promoted as “Amazing Thailand”. Thailand’s perennial spiritual strength and well-known characterization as the ‘Land of Smiles’ have made it a timeless favorite among travelers worldwide.
The Bangkok is a global capital city with rich heritage, world famous islands and beaches, jungles and wild nature and famous UNESCO world heritage sites.
The country boasts a variety of landscapes throughout the country. Starting in the north with lush green jungles, lakes, temples and elephants. Contrasting with the south, where the tropical islands with their white sandy beaches are very popular with travelers.
Thailand is a great destination for budget travelers, expats and anyone who wants to spend their vacation on the coasts, which are the best places in the world.
Thailand is a beautiful country. Many travelers around the world are especially looking forward to visiting the culture, fantastic food, and music of Thailand in a way that supports sustainability, local economies and women in tourism, but they do not know how to start the journey, and the world is just learning to live with Covid-19 in its current form. Traveling and exploring new places should not be affected by Covid-19 restrictions, as many countries have also relaxed their travel restrictions.
In Thailand, one of Asia’s most popular vacation destinations, tourism is a major economic driver. Before the pandemic, when visitor numbers reached a record high, it accounted for about 12% of GDP. Although Thailand is experiencing an upswing in tourism, visitor numbers are still down sharply, with 210,800 arrivals in March compared to 6,700 in the same period last year. Thailand makes for the perfect place to start an Asian adventure that goes beyond the Land of Smiles.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), together with the provinces of Chanthaburi, Rayong and Si Sa Ket, announced today the launch of the ‘Amazing Thailand Metaverse: Amazing Durian’, a new virtual travel experience created specifically to attract a new group of tourists to Thailand, especially durian lovers, cryptocurrency enthusiasts and tourists with high, disposable income.
The TAT governor said that the Metaverse is a new era in the digital world and the Tourism Authority of Thailand has recognized global trends and related consumer behavior as an opportunity to increase the competitiveness of Thailand’s tourism industry. It is an exciting way to restart business as Thailand opens up to foreign tourism in a sustainable way, which is a key objective of the ‘Visit Thailand Year 2022: Amazing New Chapters’ campaign. Tourists are encouraged to visit Thailand after enjoying their virtual experience.”
The ‘Amazing Thailand Metaverse: Amazing Durian’ is the country’s prototype project that uses Web 3.0 technology and the application of digital assets to promote tourism in order to connect the virtual and real worlds. At the same time, the project aims to help business people reopen Thailand and improve the technical skills of the tourism industry. Durian was selected as a pilot project because the fruit is internationally known and it is currently durian season in Thailand. The provinces of Chanthaburi, Rayong and Si Sa Ket are known for the production of this fruit.
The ‘Amazing Thailand Metaverse: Amazing Durian’ project can be experienced on the website www.amazingthailandmetaverse.com via iOS and Android smartphones or PC. Tourists can create their own avatar to explore a virtual durian garden modelled after a real durian orchard without the need for a VR headset. The orchards currently participating in the project are Suan Arun Burapha and KP Garden (Chanthaburi), Lamai Garden and Suphattra Land Park (Rayong), and Ing Than Park (Si Sa Ket), and more orchards are expected to be added. These orchards are known for producing many different Thai durian varieties, including the popular Monthong and Chanee and the local ones – volcanic and Long Lap Lae, as well as the glycemic index of durian (GI), all of which will be available for tourists to explore in the virtual garden.
TAT has collaborated with participating durian orchards and selected NFT creators to create the Amazing Durian in Metaverse NFT collection for tourists to purchase and collect during this durian season in Thailand (from now until August 31, 2022). In addition to the special collection, tourists can use gamification where they can improve their avatar’s skills with tokens/items and redeem e-vouchers for accommodations, tourism products and services in the real world.
The Ministry of Tourism and Sports expects at least 10 million tourist arrivals and 1 trillion to 1.5 trillion baht in tourism revenue this year, depending on other countries’ travel policies. Thailand depends on tourism for a significant portion of its economy and now is the time for the world to follow suit.
